Our Therapeutic Approach

At Harmony Manor, we believe that every child deserves to feel safe, valued, and supported to reach their full potential. Our therapeutic approach focuses on nurturing both the physical and emotional well-being of the young people in our care.

We provide trauma-informed, child-centred care that is tailored to individual needs. From the moment of admission, we gather essential information to create a personalised care and health plan. These plans include health targets and therapeutic goals, which are regularly reviewed to ensure progress and positive outcomes.
Our staff are trained to deliver consistent, therapeutic support, drawing on approaches such as PACE and attachment-based practice. Where specialist input is required, we work closely with professionals such as CAMHS, counsellors, child psychologists, and psychiatrists. With the support of placing authorities, referrals are made to ensure that every child has access to the right services at the right time.

We place equal importance on both mental and physical health. Young people are supported to register with local GPs, dentists, and opticians, while staff ensure their everyday health needs are well managed. All staff are First Aid trained, and medication is handled safely in line with individual risk assessments, with opportunities for young people to take increasing responsibility where appropriate.
Our home promotes healthy routines, a balanced diet, and regular physical activity through activities that children enjoy, such as swimming, cycling, and gym sessions. We also encourage open and honest conversations around issues such as substance misuse, always offering guidance and access to specialist support.

Above all, our therapeutic approach is about building trusting relationships. By combining consistent care, professional collaboration, and a nurturing environment, we help young people develop resilience, build confidence, and create a foundation for a healthier and more positive future.
